Utah becomes the 5th state to defund Planned Parenthood

Good news, everyone!

Life News has the story:

Utah has become the 5th state to de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business in the wake of six videos exposing how the abortion giant sells the body parts of aborted babies for research. The state follows Arkansas, Alabama and Louisiana, which are revoking a contract with Planned Parenthood using state Medicaid dollars, and New Hampshire, which zapped $650,000 in state taxpayer funding.

According to news reports, Utah is saying it will no longer allow itself to be used by the federal government to funnel funds to the abortion company. The decision essentially revokes well over $200,000 in taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood.

As the Salt Lake Tribune reports:

Gov. Gary Herbert has ordered all state agencies to stop funneling federal funds to the Planned Parenthood Association of Utah.

The federal government provides grants to Planned Parenthood, which are distributed through the Utah Department of Health. Utah law bars any organization from using state funds for abortions, and that prohibition extends to Planned Parenthood’s federal grants, Herbert said in a statement Friday afternoon.

The move came in response to the release of secretly recorded videos by an anti-abortion group showing Planned Parenthood officials in Houston describing how they provide fetal tissue from abortions for medical research.

“The allegations against Planned Parenthood are deeply troubling,” Herbert said.

““If they want to engage with the federal government directly and get their money, I think that’s fine,” the governor said.

The governor said there is no reason to fund the abortion business because other organizations provide the same non-abortion services as Planned Parenthood.

Now there is some bad news: the Obama administration is actually threatening states that have cut off funding for their ally, Planned Parenthood. After all, the Democrat Party has gotten $25 million in donations from Planned Parenthood. The Democrats have every financial incentive to keep the organ harvesting / human trafficking operation going. That’s how they get the money to for their campaign ads, which so many people find convincing.

Sixth Planned Parenthood video: baby parts taken and sold without mom’s consent

Hillary Clinton and Planned Parenthood

Here’s the sixth video released by the Center for Medical Progress:

Here’s the story from Anika Smith writing for The Stream.

She writes:

The latest video from the Center for Medical Progress presents a day in the life of Holly O’Donnell, a former StemExpress employee who has turned into a whistleblower on the baby body parts industry. O’Donnell formerly worked at the Planned Parenthood Stockton and Fresno, CA, which she describes in grim detail.

[…]In this latest sting video, O’Donnell says, “They give you a sheet and it’s everybody for that day who’s coming in for an ultrasound, for an abortion, medical and late-term abortion … We take them in the room or meet them in the chair … Pregnancy tests are potential pregnancies are potential specimens. It’s just taking advantage of the opportunities.”

Yes, there really was a list with the tissues requested from research centers. And yes, this list did dictate how they treated these women and the children in their wombs — as commodities.

[…]The most damning statement will shock many women who feel that an abortion is a private, personal matter: O’Donnell says in the video that if the aborted child was older, and the technicians needed a specimen that age, “there were times where they would just take what they wanted. And these mothers don’t know. There’s no way they would know.”

O’Donnell tells one particularly chilling incident from her time at the Fresno clinic, where there was a mother who said she did not want to “donate” the aborted child for scientific research. A worker at this clinic took her valuable specimen anyway.

Rachel Alexander also has an article up at The Stream, on the alleged legal violations in the video.

She writes:

The latest Planned Parenthood video has just been released by the Center for Medical Progress, and it contains evidence of yet more laws being broken by the organization. This time, it’s informed consent. The National Institutes of Health Revitalization Act of 1993 prohibits the harvesting of fetal body parts without obtaining the consent of the mother. So far, Planned Parenthood has defended itself against the videos by saying its employees who were secretly taped were misunderstood. But how will it get around the testimony of a former worker who seems happy to testify in court against the organization?

[…]O’Donnell also describes times when women would be asked for consent to take the fetus even before a pregnant mother had decided to have an abortion. The National Institutes of Health Revitalization Act of 1993 specifically prohibits this discussion until after a woman has decided to have an abortion: “The consent of the woman for the abortion was obtained prior to requesting or obtaining consent for a donation of the tissue for use in such research.” Section 112 of that Act imposes criminal penalties on the originating organization for “soliciting or receiving a directed donation.”

So that’s two more.

Well, let’s connect this to politics… Hillary Clinton is the presumed Democrat nominee, what does she think about selling the organs of unborn babies?

Hillary says this:

Don’t you dare touch Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer-funding, Hillary says. We need to make sure that pro-life taxpayers pay for this organ harvesting operation, because the Democrat Party gets a cut by way of political contributions.

Planned Parenthood donations to Democrats
Planned Parenthood donations to Democrats

Meanwhile, Republican candidate Ben Carson said this on Fox News:

CARSON: Maybe I am not objective when it comes to Planned Parenthood, but, you know, I know who Margaret Sanger is, and I know that she believed in eugenics, and one of the reasons you find most of their clinics in black neighborhoods is so that you can find a way to control that population. I think people should go back and read about Margaret Sanger who founded this place — a woman Hillary Clinton by the way says that she admires. Look and see what many people in Nazi Germany said about her.

CAVUTO: That she was for targeting certain races?

CARSON: That she was a great person.

Carson is very, very, very much opposed to funding Planned Parenthood’s organ harvesting operation. And I would really prefer if “pro-life Democrats” put their vote behind people like him instead of people like Hillary Clinton.

Does Planned Parenthood do mammograms? Is abortion only 3% of their services?

Life Site News explains the myth and the reality.

Excerpt:

The day before hundreds of pro-life activists prepared to flood Planned Parenthood’s offices with requests to schedule a mammogram, the organization issued a statement admitting that they do not offer the cancer screening procedure at any of their facilities.

The calls were placed today as part of “Call Planned Parenthood to Schedule Your Imaginary Mammogram Day” – an event organized by pro-life activists in response to President Obama’s statement during the presidential debate Tuesday that the abortion organization offers mammograms.

“There are millions of women all across the country, who rely on Planned Parenthood for, not just contraceptive care, they rely on it for mammograms, for cervical cancer screenings,” the president had said, repeating a claim he had made earlier this summer in an interview with Glamour magazine.

But Obama isn’t the only one.

The notion that Planned Parenthood offers mammograms is one of the most enduring myths about the abortion giant. The claim is regularly trotted out by pro-abortion politicians eager to defend taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, but wary of invoking its controversial status as the country’s leading provider of abortions.

Not only does Planned Parenthood not provide mammograms, but the abortions they perform have been linked to the epidemic of breast cancer that is afflicting women today.

What about the claim that only 3% of what Planned Parenthood does is doing abortions?

False:

Practically every defender of the organization, fighting to preserve its federal funding, reverts to the 3 percent figure. How could you possibly, they ask, defund a group that devotes itself overwhelmingly to uncontroversial procedures and services for women?

[…]The 3 percent factoid is crafted to obscure the reality of Planned Parenthood’s business. The group performs about 330,000 abortions a year, or roughly 30 percent of all the abortions in the country. By its own accounting in its 2013–2014 annual report, it provides about as many abortions as Pap tests (380,000). The group does more breast exams and provides more breast-care services (490,000), but not by that much.

The 3 percent figure is derived by counting abortion as just another service like much less consequential services. So abortion is considered a service no different than a pregnancy test (1.1 million), even though a box with two pregnancy tests can be procured from the local drugstore for less than $10.

By Planned Parenthood’s math, a woman who gets an abortion but also a pregnancy test, an STD test, and some contraceptives has received four services, and only 25 percent of them are abortion. This is a little like performing an abortion and giving a woman an aspirin, and saying only half of what you do is abortion.

Such cracked reasoning could be used to obscure the purpose of any organization. The sponsors of the New York City Marathon could count each small cup of water they hand out (some 2 million cups, compared with 45,000 runners) and say they are mainly in the hydration business. Or Major League Baseball teams could say that they sell about 20 million hot dogs and play 2,430 games in a season, so baseball is only .012 percent of what they do.

Supporters of Planned Parenthood want to use its health services as leverage to preserve its abortions, as if you can’t get one without the other. Of course, this is nonsense. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides free or low-cost breast- and cervical-cancer screenings — without aborting babies. State health departments provide free cancer screenings — without aborting babies. Community health centers provide a range of medical services — without aborting babies.

I think it’s a good idea to be able to respond to Planned Parenthood’s rhetoric. These are the people who kill babies, and we have to be able to respond to their false claims. When a majority of people learn the truth about the baby killing business, it will stop.
