In National Review, David French lists 15 reasons why Donald Trump is a crazy liberal.

These are all from the time of Donald Trump’s campaign – we are not even going back to when he was “very pro-choice”.
I’ve covered most of these already, but this one was new to me:
15. Finally, there is this now-infamous bit of lunacy, which can’t be stressed enough: Trump tied Ted Cruz’s father to John F. Kennedy’s assassin:
“His father was with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to Oswald’s being — you know, shot. I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous,” Trump said Tuesday during a phone interview with Fox News. “What is this, right prior to his being shot, and nobody even brings it up. They don’t even talk about that. That was reported, and nobody talks about it.”
“I mean, what was he doing — what was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the death? Before the shooting?” Trump continued. “It’s horrible.”
Yes, really:
His source for that conspiracy theory is – of course – the National Enquirer, which is run by his very good friend Mr. Pecker. And I expect that in a Trump administration, he would put more trust in stories from the National Enquirer than Presidential Daily Briefings produced by the FBI, CIA, etc.

This is not Trump’s first brush with conspiracy theories. Nor the second. Nor the third. Nor even the fourth. And I guess that a fair number of his supporters will believe this, because maybe they consider the National Enquirer to be a reputable news source.
I wonder what would have happened to Ted Cruz if he had cited the National Enquirer as an authority when he was defending the Second Amendment before the U.S. Supreme Court. He probably wouldn’t have won the case if he had, so it’s a good thing he is a serious intellectual, and he won the case.

You’re missing something of crucial importance, Mr. Knight. Trump quite openly acknowledges that he says things to provoke and enrage; he clearly understands the popular culture better than just about anyone – being a reality tv star, he got plenty of practice in this. His 9/11 comments, for example, or his Cruz allegations, reveal nothing about his true beliefs; rather, they say a lot about what us, the public. He ratings have gone up among voters since those comments.
I have followed your writings for years and respect your apologetics work tremendously. I think, however, that you are wilfully closing your eyes to Cruz’s political manoeuvrings. Cruz is every bit as worldly as the Donald; he would do or say anything that the Donald would. He just isn’t as good at playing the game of winning voters. Donald Trump is demonstrating his worth by his competence, his intelligence and his sheer force of will. Every president does that; Trump’s persona is merely reflecting the times we live – people are unemployed, they feel disenfranchised, they feel America is laughed at…Obama played on the hubris of Iraq, preaching conciliation. Now after 8 years we want to feel America is great again. It’s all theatre, Wintery.

I don’t think Trump believes the National Enquirer story. He even admitted he didn’t believe the story. He just used it to sow doubt about Cruz in the minds of the gullible who don’t bother to check the facts and who follow Trump like he’s their god. In other words, he purposely lied for political gain and admitted it. His followers still think he’s so honest though because he “tells it like it is.” Cultists gonna cult.

I have realized all along that this will essentially be an election between two Liberal Democrats. However, unlike Hillary (and Obama), Trump does not resent this country and its citizens. I think that is worth taking a chance on. (As if we have a choice.) Not to mention that he is the only one who has ever had a real job and has some clue as to how the private sector works. I liked Cruz, but I don’t think he has the moxie to knock heads together, Three Stooges style, that the next President will likely need.

Well, that isn’t a complete list, for sure. Other contenders for the list include past political contributions and a personal life that doesn’t illustrate a belief in life long marriage as a cornerstone for society.
Insincere words are easier to than insincere actions are to do.

I didn’t vote for Newt Gingrich in the primary because of his affairs, and he was an actual conservative. I surely will not support Trump.

Vote for Hillary or Mitt Romney. The last pure conservative I voted for was …… I like Reagan or Goldwater. I was a Bill Buckley fan and subscribed to National Review and the weekly Standard for years. Where have they all gone. Bu the way, your list needs considerable clarification.
