Milwaukee police urge residents to arm themselves after law enforcement cuts

From Fox News.

Excerpt:

A sheriff who released a radio ad urging Milwaukee-area residents to learn to handle firearms so they can defend themselves while waiting for police said Friday that law enforcement cutbacks have changed the way police can respond to crime.

In the 30-second commercial, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Jr. says personal safety is no longer a spectator sport.

“I need you in the game,” he says.

“With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option,” he adds. “You can beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back. … Consider taking a certified safety course in handling a firearm so you can defend yourself until we get there.”

[…]But he also said he wanted to call on residents to be law enforcement “partners.” He said he could either whine about budget cuts that forced him to lay off 48 deputies last year or he could get creative.

“People are responsible to play a role in their own safety, with the help of law enforcement,” Clarke said. “I’m here to do my part, but we have fewer and fewer resources. We’re not omnipresent, and we have to stop giving people that impression.”

The mayor of Milwaukee, Tom Barrett, is against arming law-abiding citizens who want to prevent the redistribution of their wealth to criminals. He is a Democrat, so criminals are one of his main voting groups.

Public school suspends 5-year-old girl for making threat with soap bubble gun

Fox News reports.

Excerpt:

A 5-year-old Pennsylvania girl who told another girl she was going to shoot her with a pink Hello Kitty toy gun that blows soapy bubbles has been suspended from kindergarten.

Her family has hired an attorney to fight the punishment, which initially was 10 days for issuing a ‘terroristic threat.’ But her punishment was reduced to two days after her mother met with school officials and had the incident dropped to ‘threatening to harm another student,’ which apparently carries a lesser punishment.

“It’s laughable,” Robin Ficker, the girl’s attorney told FoxNews.com.

[…]Ficker says Mount Carmel Area School District officials said the girl made the threat on Jan. 10 as she waited for a school bus with friends. A school official overheard the remark and searched the girl’s backpack and did not find the Hello Kitty gun, he said.

The next day, the girls involved were ‘interrogated’ by school officials, Ficker said. By the time the girl was done speaking to administrators about the incident, she was crying, he said. A teacher called out the girl in front of her class and told her police may get involved, he said.

Ficker called the girl “the least terroristic person in Pennsylvania.”

“What parent that you know would want their 5-year-old questioned about making terroristic threats without them in the room?” Ficker asked.

A 5-year-old girl with a toy gun that shoots soap bubbles is a terrorist, according to these government-run public schools.

And this is not an isolated incident, here’s another one from last week.

Excerpt:

A lime-green Nerf toy gun caused an hours-long lock-down at a Long Island school on Tuesday.

A 911 caller told Nassau County Police she saw a suspicious teen at about 7:38 a.m. Tuesday wearing a black jacket and carrying a black backpack at Elmont Memorial high School in Elmont.

The caller said he was also carrying a lime green gun.

A SWAT team searched the school room by room.  Parents were allowed to pick up their children early Tuesday afternoon.

They eventually found the toy lime green and yellow lever action Nerf gun in a student locker.  Police did not make any arrests and the lockdown was lifted.

School officials confiscated the toy gun and say it will be returned to the parents.

Inspector Kenneth Lack says the heightened response was due to “an abundance of precaution.”

That’s another public school, run by the government.

If you have a job, some of the money you earn is taken by the government to pay for this worthless public school monopoly. There is no opt-out from this stupidity.

Man who doesn’t believe in guns thanks gun owners for protecting him from burglar

From KHOU News.

Excerpt:

HOUSTON — A couple of strangers came to the rescue when a man was robbed at gunpoint. Now, the victim wants to say thank you to the Good Samaritans.

Police believe the criminal who was canvassing a neighborhood in the 2500 block of Wichita near Hermann Park had no idea what he was in for when he picked his target.

The victim in this case had just walked back to his car from a bar around the corner.

Kevin Dorsey says he hadn’t even closed his car door Thursday night when a man wearing all black and a ski mask put a gun to his chest. The man took Dorsey’s wallet, cell phone and car keys.

After he was robbed, Dorsey began running down the street and says two men in a Mercedes asked him what had happened.

Dorsey told them and they not only caught up with the suspect, but they started shooting at him.

The suspect fired back. In the end, the two witnesses turned vigilantes won and took down the bad guy.

“I don’t believe in guns,” said Dorsey. “I don’t own a gun. I’m totally at the mercy of my saviors. They obviously sent two angels to help me. These people protected me when I couldn’t protect myself.”

After the robber had been shot, police say he jumped over a fence and was attacked by a German Shepherd. That attack prevented him from getting away.

The suspect, identified as Christopher Hutchins, is being treated at Ben Taub Hospital. He’s expected to recover.

You’ll never hear the national media report on the hundreds of thousands of crimes preventing or stopped by law-abiding people who get concealed-carry permits and legally-owned firearms. It doesn’t fit their agenda.

By the way, Neil Simpson has a big round up on gun-related stories here on his blog.

UPDATE: Right Scoop posted this video of a very attractive young lady demonstrating that ALL the weapons that people want to ban are semi-automatic, and that means one trigger pull per bullet.
