This is another of those Human Rights Commission trials I am always telling you guys about. There is no free speech in Canada. Everything you say, no matter how innocent, can land you in a courtroom. The only thing that is necessary is for someone to feel offended by what you said. No damage is needed, just that someone feels offended. Then you go to court, and the government pays for all the court costs of the plaintiff. You have to pay your own costs, of course, and the trials go on for years – much like the waiting list for a hip replacement surgery in Ontario.
When you watch pro-life debaters like Jose Ruba and Scott Klusendorf, you see them making logical arguments, citing research from hostile sources, and showing images of actual unborn children as evidence.
Well, what do you get from the pro-abortion people? (H/T Verum Serum)
They think that science cannot determine at what point a baby’s heart starts beating. Yes, they think that! Or rather, they feel that.
Because they will not conform their wills to logic and evidence. They just want to do whatever they want to be happy and then do whatever they want to make the natural consequences of their own choices go away so they can keep being happy and doing whatever they want. That’s what abortion is.
The state-appointed authority overseeing Buffalo public school finances says taxpayer-covered cosmetic surgery rung up by the city’s teachers totaled nearly $9 million in 2009.
The Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority reports that last year’s costs for such elective procedures as chemical peels and other skin treatments are up $8 million over the 2004 tab for cosmetic surgery provided under the teachers’ union contract.
School district officials say teachers or their dependents accounted for 90 percent of the approximately 500 people who received cosmetic surgery last year. About 10,000 district employees are eligible for the benefit.
If we make the public schools compete with private schools, charter schools, and homeschooling parents, then the ones that waste money like this would go out of business. So long as they have a direct feed of money from the government, they really don’t have to care what children and parents want. The only way to make them care is by making them compete for parents’ money.
