Video explaining how higher taxes affect families

ECM sent me this video that he found on Caffeinated Thoughts, and I am going to leave it up ALL DAY Saturday to make sure that you all watch it.

This is why I am annoyed to no end by fiscally liberal social conservatives who want government to solve all of these “crises” like enacting universal health care and preventing the global warming monster from killing us all. Stop it you miserable toadies! Especially you, stupid Mike Huckabee! You’re eating up all the money that single men need in order to have the confidence to start families.

I’m going to say it one more time. Good men are running the numbers on marriage right now. And we cannot take on the roles of husband and father when the jobs situation is a mess because of Obama, the taxes are too high because of Obama, and there is a looming entitlement crisis for our future children that Obama is making worse with his trillion dollar deficits. As if we didn’t have enough to worry about from punitive divorce courts, false DV charges, underperforming public schools, and weak deterrence of criminals and terrorists.

Think! If you want men to marry then vote for policies that allow men to marry. If you want big government, then you can’t have marriages and families and children. You can either have marriage and children, or you can have big government social programs. Choose.

Senior Democrat Charles Rangel charged with ethics violations

From the Associated Press. (H/T ECM)

Excerpt:

A House investigative committee on Thursday charged New York Rep. Charles Rangel with multiple ethics violations, a blow to the former Ways and Means chairman and an election-year headache for Democrats.

[…]Rangel led the tax-writing Ways and Means panel until he stepped aside last March after the ethics committee criticized him in a separate case — finding that he should have known corporate money was paying for his trips to two Caribbean conferences.

What might they charge him for?

  • His use of official stationery to raise money for the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at City College of New York.
  • Whether he had the Ways and Means Committee consider legislation that would benefit donors to the Rangel Center at the same time the congressman solicited donations or pledges.
  • Preserved a tax shelter for an oil drilling company, Nabors Industries, which has a chief executive who donated money to the center while Rangel’s committee considered the loophole legislation.
  • Used four rent-controlled apartment units in New York City, when the city’s rent stabilization program is supposed to apply to one’s primary residence. This raises the question of how all the units could be primary residences. One was a campaign office, raising the separate question of whether the rent break was an improper gift.
  • Whether Rangel, as required, publicly reported information on the financing and rental of his ownership interest in a unit within the Punta Cana Yacht Club in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Rangel also had to pay back taxes on the rental income.
  • Intentionally failed to report — when required — hundreds of thousands of dollars or more in assets. The amended disclosure reports added a credit union IRA, mutual fund accounts and stock.

The most ethical Congress in history!!! Well, maybe not.

Manufacturing sector suffered sharpest drop in June for the past 12 months

Story here from Yahoo News. (H/T Hot Air)

Excerpt:

New evidence of a slowing economic rebound emerged Thursday in reports that manufacturing activity is slowing after helping drive the early stages of the recovery.

Factory output fell in June, according to a government report on industrial production. It was the sharpest monthly drop in a year. And two regional manufacturing indexes sank this month. …

Separately, the Labor Department said wholesale prices fell for a third straight month. Prices were pulled down by a drop in energy costs and the biggest plunge in food costs in eight years. But excluding those two volatile commodities, inflation was nearly flat. …

Adding to concerns in the manufacturing sector were steep drops reported Thursday in the Empire State and Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing indexes.

CNN Money explains what went wrong for the Obammunists.

Excerpt:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce slammed President Obama’s economic policies Wednesday, saying administration officials “took their eyes off the ball” and “neglected” to focus on job creation.

A letter posted to the business group’s site and a summit with 500 business leaders were the latest moves in an ongoing battle between big business and the Obama administration.

The two are at odds over the best way to keep the recovery from slipping into a double-dip recession. The Chamber believes tax cuts are key to job creation. The Obama administration, however, has focused on stimulus and spending to create jobs.

The Chamber said in its letter that the administration “vilified industries while embarking on an ill-advised course of government expansion, major tax increases, massive deficits and job-destroying regulations.”

Democrat voters think that a left-wing president who opposes free trade deals with Panama, Colombia, etc., and who implements socialist policies will help the working man to keep his job. But they could not be more mistaken. Attacking businesses causes businesses not to hire anyone. And workers won’t spend money when they are afraid of their job disappearing. Which business hires people when there is no demand for products and services? Government’s job is to encourage businesses to hire by cutting regulations and taxes – that’s what creates sustainable consumer demand.

Just wait until he legalizes 20 million illegal immigrants. Then his union buddies will really get a little lesson in supply and demand.
