If you disagree with Obama’s health care plan then you are un-American

Check out the editorial by Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer in USA Today. (H/T Hot Air)

Excerpt:

However, it is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue. These tactics have included hanging in effigy one Democratic member of Congress in Maryland and protesters holding a sign displaying a tombstone with the name of another congressman in Texas, where protesters also shouted “Just say no!” drowning out those who wanted to hold a substantive discussion.

These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.

Health care is complex. It touches every American life. It drives our economy. People must be allowed to learn the facts.

Nothing like this was ever said by the Republican politicians during Bush’s eight years. Not once. Never. Who are the real fascists now? The same people who are always the fascists: nationalist socialists. This is the way it always worked in history: the left progresses from socialism to fascism.

Ed Morrissey writes:

I can’t think of three better reasons to get government out of health care than that it’s “complex,” “it touches every American life,” and “it drives our economy.”  However, it’s now apparently un-American to say that it in public.  Will Pelosi and Hoyer set up a tip line for un-American activities, such as flag@house.gov?  Maybe they’ll just recreate the House Un-American Activities Committee to hold hearings and demand testimony.  After all, that effort had such a glorious history of operating on the same principles Hoyer and Pelosi espouse here, which can be boiled down to “shut up and do what you’re told.”

Dissent is only patriotic if you’re a left-wing fascist.

What do the Republicans think about your right to dissent?

Watch this interview of Congressman Mike Pence with the lovely Megyn Kelly.

And here’s one with Congressman Tom Price:

These guys are both listed in my blogroll.

SEIU union thug attacks a camerawoman

Watch the video, and see Michelle Malkin comment on Democrat violence against protesters afterwards.

Allahpundit writes:

It’s not just SEIU, of course. ObamaCare astroturfing is apparently rampant on the left at the moment, replete with Craigslist ads offering idealistic young Americans a chance to “fight” for health-care reform — for a small hourly fee. Where’s the money coming from? Verum Serum has a theory, and of course so does our own Ed Morrissey. And they’re not mutually exclusive.

At the very least, no one from the Craigslist crowd has sent any protesters to the hospital yet, which is more than can be said of SEIU.

Caleb Howe at RedState has more on how the left hires counter-protesters.

What should be done with un-American protesters?

Click through to this story to see Megyn Kelly interview a protester who confronted Democrat Congressman John Dingell at a townhall. He was escorted out by police and then filed a police report the next day about a nice visit he got that night.

Are the Democrats to blame for inciting violence against protesters?

Excerpt:

[Speaker Pelosi] questioning her opponents’ patriotism is actually par for the course for Madam Speaker — but it truly is amazing to think how many “climate of hate” pieces have been written about the right’s rhetorical excesses vis-a-vis the near total pass the left’s gotten over the past week. We’ve had congressmen screeching about “political terrorists,” “brown shirts,” and “rabid animals,” Senators denouncing “un-American” activities, the DNC running ads about “angry mobs,” the president himself telling his opponents to shut up and get out of the way, and the Democratic brain trust now setting up a “war room” to respond to health-care “attacks.” Glenn Beck’s said repeatedly on his show that he supports nonviolent resistance only, but a fat lot of good that’s done him with liberals more interested in the “subtext” of his messaging; pray tell, what “subtext” should we glean from the dehumanizing venom being spit by the Democratic leadership over the past 10 days?

Hot Air reports that MSNBC says that people who oppose socialism are really racists.

Excerpt:

This clip goes hand in hand with Cynthia Tucker’s moronic guesstimate that 45-65 percent of town hall protesters are probably racist.

An impartial observer might ask whether the Democrats are creating a climate of hate, fear, bigotry and intolerance that could lead to violence. Do we need to write a hate crime bill to oppose Democrat hate speech that could lead to hate crimes?

This is actually just the tip of the iceberg.

Gateway Pundit has a full round-up, with pictures and videos, of the latest violence committed by Democrat thugs against the peaceful protesters.

ECM sent me this Hot Air video in which a New Hampshire protester explains what the protests are about.

As Michelle Malkin reported last week, the SEIU is closely linked to Obama through money and political appointments. Michelle explains in her post how the SEIU union has not been shy about bullying people to get what they want from them.

Is Obama against police officers and victims of crime?

Obama has really put his foot in his mouth this time by insulting police officers just for performing their duties.

Normally, I would always blog about policy issues and leave these Obama gaffes for other blogs. But in watching the story explained on Fox News below, I began to realize that there was a policy angle after all.

Watch this Fox News clip: (H/T Nice Deb)

And pay attention to the part of the transcript that Deb snipped out from NRO, where Charles Krauthammer makes the point:

I think it was important, because the Democrats have suffered for almost a half a century of a reputation of being soft on crime. The flip side of that is tough on cops, or insensitive to the duties and the sacrifices of law enforcement.

Now click through and see Verum Serum’s video of non-white police officers standing by officer Crowley. (H/T Hot Air)

The police are not happy with Obama calling them stupid. But should we be surprised that he thinks police are stupid?

Consider this article on Obama’s softness on crime from The Hill.

Excerpt:

In 1998, Obama was one of only three senators to vote against a proposal making it a criminal offense for convicts on probation or on bail to have contact with a street gang.

In 2001, Obama voted against a measure that would have expanded the penalties for some gang activity to include the death penalty. The bill was vetoed by then-Gov. George Ryan (R ) not long after he had issued a moratorium on the death penalty in the state.

Obama, at the time, said the bill would unfairly target minorities, stating, “There’s a strong overlap between gang affiliation and young men of color … I think it’s problematic for them to be singled out as more likely to receive the death penalty for carrying out certain acts than are others who do the same thing.”

Obama opposes the death penalty except for terrorists, serial killers and child-murderers, but his campaign added that he does not support the death penalty as it is currently administered in this country.

On a 1999 vote making adult prosecution mandatory for aggravated discharge of a firearm in or near a school, the senator voted “present.”

He explained the vote, saying, “There is really no proof or indication that automatic transfers and increased penalties and adult penalties for juvenile offenses have, in fact, proven to be more effective in reducing juvenile crime or cutting back on recidivism.”

And in 2001, Obama voted “present” on a bill that would increase penalties for trafficking in Ecstasy and other designer drugs.

The senator questioned the length of some drug penalties when compared to other crimes, noting that selling 15 tablets of Ecstasy was a Class X felony, as was raping a woman at knifepoint.

…During Obama’s campaign against Rush, the senator missed a vote on the Safe Neighborhoods Act that would have made illegal gun possession a felony, and Ryan blamed Obama and two other lawmakers for missing the vote and dooming the legislation, though it failed 31-17.

And consider this IBD article:

Excerpt:

As an Illinois state senator, for example, he acted more as a friend to criminals than to cops, legislating among other things:

• Curbs on what he called a “broken” death penalty system.

• A measure to expunge some criminal records and give job grants to ex-cons.

• Tougher handgun controls.

• A vote against making gang members eligible for the death penalty if they kill someone to help their gang.

• Opposition to a bill requiring juveniles to be prosecuted as adults for firing a gun at or near a school.

At the federal level, Obama would:

• Repeal “unfair” mandatory sentences for crack convictions.

• Provide drug counseling instead of jail time for some abusers.

• Rethink criminal penalties for pot.

• Ban profiling by federal law enforcement, even if it helps catch violent criminals including terrorists.

• Strengthen hate-crime laws and beef up civil rights enforcement against police chiefs who profile.

• Provide job training, drug rehab and counseling for ex-cons.

• “Re-enfranchise” felons denied the right to vote.

In addition, Obama, who once vowed to repeal the Patriot Act, still talks about reforming it. He also once proposed banning executions of inmates, arguing he was against capital punishment.

…”In our criminal justice system, African-Americans and whites are arrested at very different rates,” Obama recently complained. “It has to do with how we pursue racial justice.”

This Cambridge, MA story is consistent with Obama’s previous voting record against public safety and law enforcement.
