Whenever people disagree about controversial things, the best way to proceed is to look at what the evidence says. In this case, we’ve got a new PNAS study authored by professors at several different universities which concludes that white officers are not more likely to shoot black civilians than black or Hispanic police officers.
Heather McDonald writes about it in the centrist National Review:
A new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences demolishes the Democratic narrative regarding race and police shootings, which holds that white officers are engaged in an epidemic of racially biased shootings of black men. It turns out that white officers are no more likely than black or Hispanic officers to shoot black civilians. It is a racial group’s rate of violent crime that determines police shootings, not the race of the officer. The more frequently officers encounter violent suspects from any given racial group, the greater the chance that members of that racial group will be shot by a police officer. In fact, if there is a bias in police shootings after crime rates are taken into account, it is against white civilians, the study found.
The authors, faculty at Michigan State University and the University of Maryland at College Park, created a database of 917 officer-involved fatal shootings in 2015 from more than 650 police departments. Fifty-five percent of the victims were white, 27 percent were black, and 19 percent were Hispanic. Between 90 and 95 percent of the civilians shot by officers in 2015 were attacking police or other citizens; 90 percent were armed with a weapon. So-called threat-misperception shootings, in which an officer shoots an unarmed civilian after mistaking a cellphone, say, for a gun, were rare.
This study builds on previous work, which also showed that white police officers were not more biased than other officers to shoot black civilians.
McDonald notes that progressive policy of hiring more minority police officers won’t reduce the rates of shootings of minority civilians, since all races fire their weapons at minority civilians at roughly the same rate.
The real problem with outrage at white police officers is that it doesn’t address the problem of black-on-black crime, which is a FAR greater threat to black victims of crime.
A recent editorial by George Mason University professor of economics Walter Williams explains:
Each year, roughly 7,000 blacks are murdered. Ninety-four percent of the time, the murderer is another black person.
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, between 1976 and 2011, there were 279,384 black murder victims. Using the 94-percent figure means that 262,621 were murdered by other blacks.
Though blacks are 13 percent of the nation’s population, they account for more than 50 percent of homicide victims. Nationally, the black homicide victimization rate is six times that of whites, and in some cities, it’s 22 times that of whites.
Coupled with being most of the nation’s homicide victims, blacks are most of the victims of violent personal crimes, such as assault and robbery.
[…]It’s a tragic commentary to be able to say that young black males have a greater chance of reaching maturity on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan than on the streets of Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Oakland, Newark and other cities.
And all those cities are run by Democrats. And they have been run by Democrats for decades. Democrat policies don’t work to solve the problem how making cities safer for blacks.
The real root cause behind crime is, of course, fatherlessness, as this interview about fatherless boys in the Daily Signal with Warren Farrell makes clear:
They’re far more likely to be the mass shooters. About 90% of the mass shooters that I studied since Columbine have been boys brought up in homes that have minimal or no father involvement or products of divorce or so on. And so that really shocked me to see that common denominator.
I then looked beyond that and went to ISIS recruits. There was a big study of ISIS recruits that found that the common denominator among ISIS recruits was dad deprivation, but not only among the boys, but also the female ISIS recruits as well, which, of course, are in much smaller numbers.
Then I started looking at prisoners and the prison population. We all know that 93% of the prisoners are male, but what very few people know is that about 90% of those 93% are dad-deprived boys.
Kay Cole James, the president of the Heritage Foundation (my favorite think tank), wrote about some of her ideas on how to solve the problem for Fox News.
She writes:
First, we must ensure that we’re encouraging families to stay together and that fathers and mothers raise their children together. Decades of studies have shown that children raised in single-parent homes are statistically more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol, exhibit poor social behaviors, and commit violent crimes. They’re also more likely to drop out of school, which often leaves them struggling to find good-paying jobs as adults.
We could go a long way toward strengthening inner-city families by changing the system of government assistance that routinely weakens them.
A child of welfare, I can tell you that an overreliance on government assistance has deprived millions of children of the love and security they would have gotten from a family with two parents.
In the rest of the article, she explains how she was able to put that into practice, and what results she obtained by doing it.
Welfare “frees” women to try to start relationships with men who demonstrate no ability or willingness to commit. She doesn’t have to care about whether he is chaste, sober, drug-free, loyal, educated, a hard worker, etc. because the government is taking over the role of provider. The side effect of this is the high inner-city crime rates that we observe in cities that reward women for making fatherless children with men they never vetted for commitment ability.

It’s still very possible white police officers disproportionately shoot black suspects unjustly with all things being considered.
I definitely question the authenticity of the data and it’s *SOURCE* and hope it’s not being “manipulated” as it’s displayed for the public to see.

Hmmm… “debatable”. While black-on-black crime occurs it’s usually the case because black people see their own kind as “soft targets” within the greater world of “White Supremacy” so they don’t go after white people to commit crimes because they will face harsher punishments by the law and society of the United States of mostly white people.
It’s easier for thug black folks to “pick on their own kind” and get away with it since the (White) American Justice System does not really care about the crime that goes on in black neighborhoods since it’s not “their people” being affected directly.
No one talks about “white-on-white” crime since it’s already understood white people are the majority ethnic population of the United States in general.

Absolutely. Yet the question to be answered is “how did fatherlessness begin in the Black Community to begin with?”
It was never always like the way it is Bro. WK and I like to think you know that as well.
Since after the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s and black people got more rights and “integrated” into greater (White) American society the black family unit started to deteriorate with government plans to destabilize the black family; hence the “crack epidemic” in black communities nationwide.
Following after the “(White) Feminist Women’s Movement” that corrupted many black women to antagonize their men and break down the family structure; when degenerate hip hop culture and rap music came about in the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s black men as a collective exponentially started to lose their sense of social responsibility for their families and communities and live selfish, self-centered heathenistic lives to to the destruction of Black American Society as a result of the cultural hedonism of wicked hip hip culture.
Fifty, Sixty and even seventy years ago when can say “fatherlessness” was never the “serious problem” the way it is now in our modern time in Black America.
Same thing can be said about white families to a lesser extent as well.
Unfortunately we’re just living through the “effects” of the latest few decades of delinquency in the overall Black American Community but this was never a “norm” in the history of black people in the United States of America.
Nonetheless, I see that there are black men out there actively fighting to “break-the-chain” of our dysfunction as a people and community so it’s not “set in stone” that “fatherlessness” will continue to be a problem for black communities into the future as black communities are actively healing and “restoring” themselves in uphill battles.

Well, all things being said I want to say that I would like to agree with what your post in saying Bro. WK but I still have doubts it’s completely true in reality.
The fact that black people have lived in a nation of slavery against their people and have always been “pegged down” by White Supremacist systemic institutional racism since the very beginning of the United States even to the present time is historical proof that Black communities have always been smothered with many “external factors” that have destabilized, degenerated and negatively harmed our communities far greater than any of our own “self-inflicted” wounds on the societal level.

I agree with you that 70 years ago fatherlessness was not a problem for the black community, and I blame welfare programs for encouraging women to have sex with men who had not commit to them first. I have had to deal with this myself. My BS and MS in computer science was not very impressive to black women. They wanted tall, piercings and tattoos. Gold chains and a criminal record didn’t hurt. I have to live with having to find a mate in a population that is 97% opposed to chastity and 97% supportive of abortion. So I’m not happy and I have a right to express my unhappiness with what these women were told to believe.

Now I won’t go too “personal” here with you in this thread concerning “dealing with women issues” and in particular the “black women issues of the black community”; though I suspect you only need to further “inspect yourself” and see if there are any personal changes you may need to make in order to properly attract quality black women you could consider wife material.
It’s what I do and we have to always remember that “Feminism” itself was an ideology created for the benefit of originally white women only before it later negatively corrupted black women in it’s destructive influence in Black American Culture.
So when you and other black guys I hear say things like black women wanting “tall, piercings and tattoos, good chains, criminal record, etc.” just basically means the black women are “instinctual attracted to “alpha male traits” in superficial “thuggish black men” so it’s not that black women want “Tyrone Da Thug” as a mate because he’s a thug: they want his natural masculine alpha dominance traits he displays albeit “negatively”.
At the end of the day only MEN can improve themselves the way they need to in order to attract the kind of women they desire and no other man can make you do that but yourself.
Sure men can help other men out but each man himself must decide for himself in life whether he’s gonna be brutally honest with *HIMSELF* to make the changes necessary to achieve his goals.
The women are not “obligated” to make things easier for you to get with them though it’s “nice” when some do lol.
Still we have to also consider that the majority of Black American women in America have been “corrupted from their natural feminine state” just as the white man’s women have been corrupted by the “Pandora’s Box of Feminism” afflicting the collective female psyche of all ethnicities.
Now a smart black man like yourself, I believe, can fix any “woman problems” you may have if God wants you to be married in the first place my brother.
Other than that, me myself, I’m beyond the “women issue” as a black man concerning the Black Community since I understand how black women have been “corrupted inside-out” by White society’s Feminism and degenerate Black American hip hop culture.
Also how White American society as a whole “demonizes” and “puts down” the black man image as a whole than many black women as a result “look down upon” their black men as weak, unworthy creatures “beaten down” by “The White Man” in American society.

Black women’s femininity “Feminist corruption” is truly a subject for it’s own unique article post series to be honest and you’d have a lot of material you’d have to address to tackle that issue honestly and thoroughly the way it should be investigated…

Where in the Bible does it say it is acceptable to use being oppressed as an excuse to behave badly.
Even minorities in the americas have life better than people did in biblical days. You didn’t see the great prophets of the ot talking about going out and having random sex and using drugs because they were oppressed by Babylon for example.
Yet in some circles they will call America a Babylon and refuse to move past issues.
You recognize the past and begin the process of sanctification and becoming more holy to make any culture more godlike and successful.
I would say it seems as if in black communities true faith and following of God had to be in decline as they embraced ways of the world and an ungodly lifestyle.
Many may have attended church but I suspect their faith was superficial as it is many in the church today. Jesus was there to make you feel good and church is about good music and some fellowship

You make a lot of good points Mr. Greg about a lot of the negative behaviors of certain segments of black people in black communities.

Even when the Hebrews left Egypt out of slavery they had a hard time “adjusting to being freemen” as they were former slaves so their transition back to being a “free people” wasn’t going to be a “snap-of-the-finger” transition after FOUR HUNDRED YEARS of slavery in Egypt; so their psychological trauma needed time to “mentally recover”…
Why else did the “go crazy” and make that “molten calf” when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the Ten Commandments? The Hebrews were not “completely mentally recovered in their psyche” as a people and were still “slaves in mind” so God had to *SLOWLY* re-introduce them back into being a “free people” under His Guidance.
Ever since black women tasted the “the evil fruit of Feminism” the “evil powers that shouldn’t be” have used black female rebellion to destroy the black nuclear family unit and “fatherhead”.
Plus the “crack epidemic” in black communities by the CIA further destabilized the Black Community with it’s lingering effects to this day.
A lot of mentally-ill and psychologically traumatized black folks have a “victim mentality” as a result from their disenfranchised communities but it’s truly not all their fault for how their people have ended up in the poor condition many are in because of past intentional sabotage by whites.
Now of course black people in general can’t “blame the past” or white people in general for all their current conditions but nobody should ever wickedly overlook the entire history of black people in the United States of America and not see how it would not “affect their mobility” as a people from “recovering” their stability.
In today’s modern world while there are blacks that have the “victim mentality” to a fault many black folks have and are actually “pulling themselves up by their bootstraps” while at the same time having to deal with other obstacles such systemic institutional racism and economic prejudice so it’s always an “uphill battle” for many black people in America. Period.
Now on the “church scene”… Following the “destabilization” of the black nuclear family unit in America with mentally-impaired black men unable to provide for themselves and take care of their families for the ones not already locked up in “mass incarceration”; has left a continual inter-generational dysfunctional “Feminist Black Matriarchy family model” of “female-led” households where the men are mostly absent and/or have abandoned their families for their own selfish reasons and/or refusals to deal with their “rebellious female family members”.
As a result any “good black men of Christian faith” has dwindled within single-mom households and women have “taken over” the functioning of many black churches to their detriment unfortunately…
A big reason a lot of black people have stopped going to Christian churches because it’s been so thickly permeated by “I don’t need no man strong black woman Feminist types” who unnaturally like to dominate the men and be in control of things and get angry and rebellious when they are “out-of-line” with their God-given gender roles towards men.
That’s been a big reason I don’t go to black churches that are “matriarchally-driven” by Feminist black women trying to “run the church.
In addition, in these modern times a lot of black people men and women alike have also just gone “completely personally unstable” and if they were not brought up around any Christian family members have “gone plain heathen” and a lot of them are the ones many white people complain about causing a lot of crimes and wreaking havoc throughout various places in America.
These “heathen black folks” that have “no root in themselves” from their family or communities and have given themselves over to the “cares of this earthly life” through secularism, degenerate Black American hip hop culture and all of the devil’s worldly vices is why a lot of young black people are a “hot hedonistic mess” as they are; because of lack of stable, proper *FATHER/MALE-LED* Christian Black homes…
That’s why it’s imperative that Christian black people who understand the “conditions” of their people in America do their duty to “correct their people’s errant ways” and for the Christian white people who seriously want to help the wayward, lost heathen black folks; that they help first with *EMPATHY IN MIND* by *PROPERLY UNDERSTANDING* the Black American psyche and *THE HELP* with the necessary health, spiritual and economic resources as needed.
