Planned Parenthood has no problems with late-term sex selection abortions

Here’s Planned Parenthood’s response to the Live Action sting in which a Planned Parenthood worker was filmed counseling a customer to get a late-term, sex-selection abortion.

Excerpt:

This spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood Federation of America also told The Huffington Post that the organization condemns seeking abortions on the basis of gender, but its policy is to provide “high quality, confidential, nonjudgmental care to all who come into” its health centers. That means that no Planned Parenthood clinic will deny a woman an abortion based on her reasons for wanting one, except in those states that explicitly prohibit sex-selective abortions (Arizona, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Illinois).

Sex-selective abortions are the latest target of anti-abortion activists whose goal is to make abortions illegal across the United States. Lawmakers at the state and federal level have also latched onto the issue by introducing legislation that criminalizes doctors who perform abortions because of the race or gender of the fetus. Opponents of such laws say they force doctors into the inappropriate position of investigating a woman’s personal motivations for seeking an abortion. The House of Representatives will debate Rep. Trent Franks’ (R-Ariz.) Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act on Wednesday, which would ban sex-selective abortions in the United States.

Is that clear? Republicans favor banning sex-selection abortions and Democrats favor profiting from sex-selection abortions. So who hates women? Who wants to make it OK to murder women just because they are not men?

Live Action sting: Planned Parenthood counsels late-term sex-selection abortion

Story from Pro-Life Blogs. (H/T J Warner Wallace)

Excerpt:

Today, Live Action released a new undercover video showing a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Austin, TX encouraging a woman to obtain a late-term abortion because she was purportedly carrying a girl and wanted to have a boy. The video is first in a new series titled “Gendercide: Sex-Selection in America,” exposing the practice of sex-selective abortion in the United States and how Planned Parenthood and the rest of the abortion industry facilitate the selective elimination of baby girls in the womb.

Live Action writes, “Planned Parenthood claims to oppose ‘gendercide.’ So, why was Planned Parenthood staff so focused on aborting a baby girl, just because she was a girl? Even going so far as to coach a late term abortion, in order to confirm that the baby was the unwanted sex?”

This is the way it is, folks. Murdering women because they are women – for profit. And all paid for with taxpayer dollars, thanks to Barack Obama. It’s applied feminism.

Iowa Republicans ban taxpayer-funding of abortion

Good news from Iowa, as reported by Caffeinated Thoughts.

Excerpt:

The Iowa House passed on a 58-37 vote an amendment (H-8489) to the SF 2336 the Health and Human Services appropriations bill.  The amendment provided clear and strong language which defunds abortion of state and federal family planning funds with the only exception being to save the life of the mother.  It removes exceptions for rape and incest, as well as, fetal abnormalities.  It also largely defunds abortion providers in the state of Iowa.  The amendment reads:

A department shall not distribute state or federal family planning funds under this section to any entity that performs abortions or that maintains or operates a facility where abortions are performed.

In addition all state departments that distribute state and federal family planning money are required to report to the Governor and the General Assembly who received state or federal family planning funds.  If they do distribute state or federal family planning funds to an entity that doesn’t provide primary health services they have to explain why it was necessary to prevent severe limitation or elimination to family planning services to that region of the state.  This amendment had the full support of the Republican caucus.

Shane also quotes Thomas Jefferson in his post as follows “to compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical”. I think that de-funding abortion is a great first step to reducing the number of abortions, and particularly sensible in a time of fiscal crisis. This is common sense.
