The Washington Times reports on the latest numbers from the Census Bureau.

The latest Census Bureau numbers find that more than seven of 10 households headed by immigrants in California, and nearly the same amount in Texas, are on the taxpayer dole.
[…]According to the latest numbers from 2014, fully 63 percent of non-citizens are living off at least one welfare program. That translates into 4.68 million households.
[…]“Concern over immigrant welfare use is justified, as households headed by non-citizens’ use means means-tested welfare at high rates,” said the Center for Immigration Studies, in its report on the numbers. “Non-citizens in the data include illegal immigrants, long-term temporary visitors like guest workers, and permanent residents who have not naturalized.”
What’s most troublesome about the Census findings is the fact that the 63 percent of non-citizens on welfare actually grows to 70 percent for those who stay in-country 10 years or longer — meaning the entitlement mind only solidifies.
Meaning non-citizens on welfare don’t tend to get off welfare.
The reason I am posting about this study is because of the widespread perception on the left that all opposition to illegal immigration is just caused by racism. And similarly, support for border security has nothing to do with preventing crime and protecting our national security. It’s all caused by racism too. Well, when you look at a study like this, you can clearly see that people who oppose illegal immigration and support border security have other things on their minds than racism.
Right now, we are nearly $28 trillion in debt. And it’s climbing by over $1 trillion per year. We’re already spending too much money. Interest on the debt is becoming a larger and larger part of our budget, leaving less money for real priorities like defense and infrastructure. Someone is going to have to pay for all these handouts that are driving us into debt. Young people people have the most to lose, because they have their whole professional lives ahead of them.
I just want to be clear about something. I am very much in favor of skilled immigration. I think that people who come here to WORK should be allowed to come here to WORK. While they are WORKING they should be ineligible for collecting any money from the government. They should not be able to vote or influence elections. They should not be able to bring any of their non-working relatives here. They should be deported if they commit a felony. They should be deported if they lose or quit their jobs. And if they are able to keep working, following the law, and staying off the dole, for a period of 10 years, then they should be allowed to apply for green cards. But our current system isn’t oriented towards skilled immigrants. All the concern on the left AND on the right AND in the churches is about refugees and illegal immigrants.
Personally, I think we could be a LOT more accepting of skilled immigrants if we got rid of all the welfare programs. After all, if there is no welfare to be collected, then why would people even want to come here? The only reason they would come would be for the right reason – for liberty. And in order to stay, they would have to work and follow the law. That’s who we want to bring in. If we only brought in law-abiding workers, then we could be a lot more generous about letting people of all races in.
And from a political point of view, we don’t do well when we import a bunch of big government liberals from countries that don’t accept American ideals, like individual liberty and limited government.
As far as I’m concerned, there should only be two paths to citizenship for immigrants: skilled labor and military service. And both of those for 10 years minimum. But that’s not how the current system works. I just want everyone to understand that this is not an issue that has no effect on taxpayers. If we bring in unskilled immigrants and refugees, then we are going to have to pay for their schooling, their health care, and maybe even basics like food and spending money.

Interesting. I was just talking to my son-in-law about this. He is a DACA kid, and he’s having a lot of trouble trying to get his citizenship. He, obviously, married my daughter (its real, so no worries there), his goal has been to join the military, but he has quite a chip on his shoulder when it comes to immigration. He has been brought up by the public school system to be an activist, and he sees the treatment of immigrants as unfair. They come here to work, they pay taxes, why shouldn’t they get to become citizens? Why? Because the American people are racist and keep making it harder for them to do so. I told him the same thing: American people are not racist and not against immigration, they are just against UNFETTERED immigration in which unskilled and possibly dangerous people flood the country and consume American resources. Its the government that has fouled up the immigration system. I mean, at some point we had a system that worked, right? But the government has to get their piece and has to bloat the system, and here we are!
I guess it’s too late now, we are looking down the barrel of a massive influx of illegal aliens becoming full blown, unskilled citizens, which will be a death knell for California, and its probably the biggest reason I am leaving.

It is amazing that some people think that Donald Trump is “racist” but not the Democratic Party that has used minorities for nearly two hundred years, just transferring them from one plantation to another – now the Welfare and Abortion Plantations, which keeps minorities poor, dependent, uneducated, and in the case of abortion, perpetually in the minority.

Careful with that thinking there, pal. It goes against the teachings of the party! Democrats LOVE colored people, while Republicans hate them. You can tell because the Republicans have so many in their party so they can keep a close eye on them and keep them down!

I asked my white liberal co-workers which was his most racist policy. They couldn’t think of one. So I said maybe it was getting all the minorities to have record low unemployment. They just just repeated to me that Trump had said racist things. I asked if dollars were more or less important than words. They had no answer.

This is going to get a lot of people mad, including my pastor, but when a nation was conquered by Israel they were at first told to destroy them all; then Israel starting balking on God’s command and let some of the people stay in the land (i.e. Jebusites in Jebus ‘Jerusalem’), so they made them slaves to carry water and other tasks. But how long before that policy stopped and the conquered began to work into Israel’s everyday society, corrupting it with idolatry, etc.? But that’s another discussion.
My point is, are we better off when we take in “conquered peoples” (those who’s own countries have failed; so they mass-migrate to the western nations) and we sign them up for social welfare programs; give them; free food; clothers; medical; education; cars; homes; cel-phones; and on and on…by redistributing the wealth through government taxation? Or should we make them indentured servants so they can be productive until the time they can win their freedom (like working for freedom)? During the times of the guilds an apprentice became a servant to the master for about 4 or 5 years until he learned the trade he was apprenticing for, then he became a journeyman able to go out into the world and practice his trade. He had to earn the necessary experience to be considered journey-level skilled worker and not a “slave” (servant) any more. Today we have trade schools (which you pay for) or you can try your luck with Youtube to show you how to do certain vocational tasks (in the past, after the printing press was invented there were pamphlets and books made available.) But the point is nothing is free, someone pays;
as the Apostle Paul said; “21 Were you called as a slave? Do not let it concern you. But if you are also able to become free, take advantage of that. 22 For the one who was called in the Lord as a slave, is the Lord’s freed person; likewise the one who was called as free, is Christ’s slave. 23 You were bought for a price; do not become slaves of people. 24 Brothers and sisters, each one is to remain with God in that condition in which he was called.” 1 Corinthians 7
