I don’t agree with Governor Christie on everything – he is the governor of one of the bluest states in the Union. But this is just awesome.

This guy is the real deal. This is what politicians should be – tough, blunt and refreshingly unafraid to be honest. He has done an absolutely incredible job fighting the Democrats in very blue New Jersey, not worrying one whit about re-election, but about doing the best job he can for his state. As a result, he closed a $12 billion state budget gaps, which was $5 billion more than they thought it was before he stepped into office, without raising taxes.
One of my favorite stories I’ve seen about Christie is how he pledged no new taxes on anybody, and the Democrats tried to “call his bluff” by passing a politically popular tax on “millionaires”. What governor who routinely talks about how they have to close the budget gap can politically fight a tax only on millionaires? Well, when the Democrats passed the bill, within two minutes of passage the Senate leader brought it over to Christie’s office. Christie was waiting inside at his desk, with cameras. He said “what took you so long?” and immediately signed a veto and handed it back to the Democrat. “This isn’t over yet” the Dem said. “We’ll see,” replied Christie. It was over. The Democrats couldn’t muster the votes to overturn Christie’s veto.
THAT’S a politician. He kept a politically unpopular promise without even a hesitation or a thought.

Shouldn’t the fact that he is ‘the governor of one the bluest states in the Union’ make you appreciate what he is doing more? I see a lot of him and I like what I see. He’s so refreshing!! Agreed that he is a fiscal conservative and doesn’t seem that much of a social conservative but every time he does something like this, it’s so full of awesomeness!
