Obama wants to send $1 billion of aid to Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt

The Obama administration notified Congress on Friday that it would provide Egypt’s new government an emergency cash infusion of $450 million, but the aid immediately encountered resistance from a prominent lawmaker wary of foreign aid and Egypt’s new course under the leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood.

[…]The aid is part of the $1 billion in assistance that the Obama administration has pledged to Egypt to bolster its transition to democracy after the overthrow last year of the former president, Hosni Mubarak. Its fate, however, was clouded by concerns over the new government’s policies and, more recently, the protests that damaged the American Embassy in Cairo.

[…]Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking at a meeting of the Group of 8 nations in New York, said on Friday that the world needed to do more to support the governments that have emerged from the Arab Spring uprisings, including those in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia.

“The recent riots and protests throughout the region have brought the challenge of transition into sharp relief,” Mrs. Clinton said, without mentioning the assistance to Egypt specifically. “Extremists are clearly determined to hijack these wars and revolutions to further their agendas and ideology, so our partnership must empower those who would see their nations emerge as true democracies.”

The debate comes as the issue of foreign aid in general made an unexpected appearance in the presidential campaign.

In a speech in New York on Tuesday, Mr. Obama’s Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, called for revamping assistance to focus more on investments in the private sector than on direct aid… While Mr. Romney did not address aid to Egypt directly, he cited Mr. Morsi’s membership in the Muslim Brotherhood as one of the alarming developments in the Middle East, along with the war in Syria, Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons and the killing of the American ambassador to Libya.

[…]The assistance outlined in letters to Congress on Friday would be contingent on Egypt’s setting in motion economic and budgetary changes that the International Monetary Fund is now negotiating as part of a $4.8 billion loan.

The administration has also thrown its support behind that loan, and officials said they hoped it would be completed before the end of the year.

Is the economy doing so well than we have money to spare to send to foreign governments that don’t like us very much? Whatever need we have to strengthen diplomatic ties with nations like Egypt would best be met by foreign investment, where we get something back, rather than foreign aid, where we get nothing back.

Survey of small businesses: Obamacare is the biggest challenge to new hiring

More than one in five businesses (21%) are considering dropping employee health insurance due to Obamacare, and 59% are considering changing the coverage they offer, a new industry survey shows.

Two-thirds (67%) of small businesses and manufacturers say Obamacare will increase their health care costs, the survey of owners and top decision-makers by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) shows.

Of those providing health insurance to their employees, 38% fear Obamacare will cause them increase the amount employees have to pay for coverage.

Small business owners and manufacturers see Obamacare as one of the most daunting problems facing their businesses today. Fully 56% rate Obamacare a major challenge, well above other issues like regulatory costs (36%), energy costs (39%) – and more than twice the threat of foreign competition (25%).

The cost of health care is the top problem facing small businesses today, a separate 2012 NFIB survey of small business concerns shows, with 52.3% of small businesses rating rising health care costs the most “critical” problem today.

NFIB analysis also shows that Obamacare’s health insurance tax (HIT) could cost up to a quarter million (249,000) private sector jobs.

There is a reason why we have a 10.5% unemployment rate if we count people who have given up on looking for a job as unemployed. Businesses don’t like the policies of this President, and they are going to wait him out.

Britain’s first animated feature, which, despite the title and Disney-esque animal animation, is in fact a no-holds-barred adaptation of George Orwell’s classic satire on Stalinism, with the animals taking over their farm by means of a revolutionary coup, but then discovering that although all animals are supposed to be equal, some are more equal than others.

I chose this movie because of the DNC convention and Barack Obama’s new campaign slogan “Forward”, which appears in this movie.

Here’s the background on that slogan from Washington Times:

The Obama campaign apparently didn’t look backwards into history when selecting its new campaign slogan, “Forward” — a word with a long and rich association with European Marxism.

Many Communist and radical publications and entities throughout the 19th and 20th centuries had the name “Forward!” or its foreign cognates. Wikipedia has an entire section called “Forward (generic name of socialist publications).”

“The name Forward carries a special meaning in socialist political terminology. It has been frequently used as a name for socialist, communist and other left-wing newspapers and publications,” the online encyclopedia explains.

The slogan “Forward!” reflected the conviction of European Marxists and radicals that their movements reflected the march of history, which would move forward past capitalism and into socialism and communism.

[…]There have been at least two radical-left publications named “Vorwaerts” (the German word for “Forward”). One was the daily newspaper of the Social Democratic Party of Germany whose writers included Friedrich Engels and Leon Trotsky. It still publishes as the organ of Germany’s SDP, though that party has changed considerably since World War II. Another was the 1844 biweekly reader of the Communist League. Karl Marx, Engels and Mikhail Bakunin are among the names associated with that publication.

East Germany named its Army soccer club ASK Vorwaerts Berlin (later FC Vorwaerts Frankfort).

Vladimir Lenin founded the publication “Vpered” (the Russian word for “forward”) in 1905. Soviet propaganda film-maker Dziga Vertov made a documentary whose title is sometimes translated as “Forward, Soviet” (though also and more literally as “Stride, Soviet”).

Conservative critics of the Obama administration have noted numerous ties to radicalism and socialists throughout Mr. Obama’s history, from his first political campaign being launched from the living room of two former Weather Underground members, to appointing as green jobs czar Van Jones, a self-described communist.

When you watch the movie, pay close attention to the communist pig Napoleon, whose slogan is also “forward”. What does the communist pig mean by “forward”?
