MUST-READ: An overview of Obama’s radical pro-abortion record

I found this post at The Blog Prof. (H/T Nice Deb)

Excerpt:

Once again, for the umpteenth time, on Obama and abortion, it is indisputable that in his very short time in office, the most viciously pro-abort zealot to ever sit in the Oval Office did the following:

The multiple pro-infanticide votes are the most egregious of the above egregious acts, and he did so without any pity for those babies born alive only to be left in soiled linen closets to die.

Think of all the pro-life people who voted for Obama because they wanted free health care, paid for by their neighbors. This is the price of it.

Here’s one of the videos in the post:

There are a TON of videos of Obama talking about the abortion issue in the BlogProf’s blog post.

This image made me sad:

It’s the born-alive baby who was abandoned in a utility room to die. That’s not what you do with babies, for God’s sake. Obama opposed the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act. He is most pro-abortion President ever.

Does legalized abortion reduce crime rates?

One of the reasons given by pro-choice people for legalized abortion is that it reduces crime rates. But does it really reduce crime rates?

Let’s take a look at a two-part series by economist John Lott, writing for Fox News.

Here is the first article.

Excerpt:

Academic studies have found that legalized abortion, by encouraging premarital sex, increased the number of unplanned births, even outweighing the reduction in unplanned births due to abortion.

In the United States from the early 1970s, when abortion was liberalized, through the late 1980s, there was a tremendous increase in the rate of out-of-wedlock births, rising from an average of 5 percent of all births from 1965 to 1969 to more than 16 percent two decades later (1985 to 1989).

Here is the second article.

Excerpt:

What happened to all these children raised by single women? No matter how much they want their children, single parents tend to devote less attention to them than married couples do. Single parents are less likely than married parents to read to their children or take them on excursions, and more likely to feel angry at their children or to feel that they are burdensome. Children raised out of wedlock have more social and developmental problems than children of married couples by almost any measure — from grades to school expulsion to disease. Unsurprisingly, children from unmarried families are also more likely to become criminals.

This material is exposited more fully in Lott’s book “Freedomnomics“, which is one of my favorite books. I bought it for 3 of my friends as part of their Christmas present bundle, including Andrew and Jen, the smartest married couple in the world!

UK: Most teenage pregnancies end in abortion

Startling news from the other side of the pond.

Story here. (H/T My friend Andrew, who has an amazing marriage to Jen)

Excerpt:

Most pregnancies among girls under 18 ended in abortion last year.

Out of around 40,000 pregnancies more than 20,000 were terminated – the first time more had chosen this option than become mothers.

The figure is higher than 2007, when it just hit 50 per cent, and consistent with a steady upwards trend since the Government started its controversial Teenage Pregnancy Strategy in 1999.

Figures out on May 21 will also show that for the first time the number of abortions performed on women living in England and Wales topped 200,000.

The teenage pregnancy strategy, which has cost taxpayers more than £300million, was meant to halve the number of conceptions among girls under 18 in England between 1998 and 2010.

Ministers have tried to slash teenage pregnancies by freely handing out contraceptives and expanding sex education.

But the fall in pregnancy rates has not met Government targets, and in 2007 the rate actually rose.

Teenage pregnancy rates are now higher than they were in 1995. Pregnancies among girls under 16 – below the age of consent – are also at the highest level since 1998.

And:

Phyllis Bowman, of the Right to Life group, said: ‘Contraception campaigners and clinics depend for their living on providing contraception and abortion to underage girls.

‘The Government listens to them, but they are responsible for this disaster.

‘We have the highest level of sexually transmitted disease in Europe and the highest level of sexual activity among teenagers in Europe.

‘Unicef says we have the unhappiest teenagers in Europe.

‘The young have been deliberately sexualised in a culture which sneers at the idea of telling teenagers they should not have sex.’

“When you tax something you get less of it, and when you reward something you get more of it.” – Jack Kemp

I have an idea. Let’s find a special group of people. They must believe that the entire physical universe popped into being, fine-tuned for life, uncaused, out of absolute nothing. They must believe that the massive amount of DNA code in each cell sequenced itself, by chance. They must believe that morality and human rights are illusory. And that the purpose of life is to have happy feelings, even if it means exploiting the weakest among us.

Then let’s vote them into office so that they can impose their irrational worldview on us by government coercion!

What could go wrong?
