Jim Demint stands up to fascism on the Senate floor

Senator Jim Demint
Senator Jim Demint

Here is a video from Hot Air of our hero Jim Demint, the best senator in the Senate.

Here’s the best part:

These are not Government decisions. We need to focus on what we were set up to do and do it much better than we are doing, instead of every week coming in here, bringing our good intentions and our compassion and every problem we see across the country we say something needs to be done. Then we say: The Government needs to do it.

That is the fatal flaw of the Congress today, is we forget that sacred oath of office that says: We will protect and defend the Constitution which says this Federal Government has a very limited function. And those functions that are not prescribed in the Constitution are left to individuals and to the States. At least we have someone fighting back against the democrats.

The whole transcript is here.

I also noticed this other video related to one of my old posts in which Demint opposed discrimination against religious schools in one of Obama’s massive spending bills.

And remember Obama’s defunding of charities, including churches and other religious organizations. As I argued before, when government increases, secularism increases right along with it. Big government is anti-Christianity and anti-religious-liberty.

Megyn Kelly takes on ACORN spokesman Scott Levenson

I try to focus more on policy and leave the news to other blogs. But this encounter between Megyn Kelly and ACORN spokesman Scott Levenson on ACORN’s participation in the census is too good to pass up. (H/T Nice Deb)

Megyn Kelly is so awesome! Check out that last look she gives the camera at the end! Wow.

According to Gateway Pundit:

One of Barack Obama’s first big “community organizer” jobs involved ACORN in 1992. Obama also trained ACORN employees. He represented ACORN in court. Obama worked with and protested with ACORN. His campaign donated $800,000 to ACORN this year for voter registration efforts.
And, ACORN even canvassed for Obama this year.

ACORN is the largest radical Leftist group in America today.

Michelle Malkin has related videos of other ACORN activities.

Our whole economic crisis was caused by the democrats forcing the mortgage lenders to make these risky loans to people who could not afford them. And if the lenders didn’t comply with the Community Reinvestment Act, ACORN was right there to sue them into submission.

Evan Sayet explains why progressives believe what they believe

One of the tragedies of being an active blogger is that you don’t get to visit all the blogs you used to visit before you started blogging. Well, since Ace linked to my notice about the upcoming debate of the century between Christopher Hitchens and William Lane Craig, I figured: now is the time. So I went over there and scrolled around, catching up on who is drinking Valu-Rite vodka, and who is polishing LauraW’s hump.

And I noticed that the brilliant Jewish comedian Evan Sayet, a 9/11 Democrat, has given another speech at my favorite think tank, the Heritage Foundation. If you missed Evan’s first brilliant speech, (brilliant because you learn TONS of stuff that you’ve never heard before!), don’t miss it now. But do not even think about watching this speech if you are a thin-skinned special-interest leftist. You can’t handle it.

Here is the link to his FIRST speech for the Heritage Foundation  if you missed it:

Here is the audio (MP3) and video of the second speech.

Topics of the second video include:

  • What progressives believe: postmodern skepticism, moral equivalence, creative anti-realism
  • How progressives side with evil instead of good so that everyone will be equal
  • How progressives believe that failure is never an individual’s responsibility, but always the fault of some group of oppressors
  • How progressives believe that success can only achieved by oppressing others
  • Why progressives believe in redistribution of wealth and zero-sum game economics
  • and more

I really like listening to this guy, and so will you! Listen to both of his speeches. You are never going to hear direct truth, as from a fire hydrant, like you will by listening to Evan Sayet. Pay attention to what he says at the end of the second speech. Our hope lies in our individual willingness to speak out intelligently to our neighbors about what we believe and why we believe it.
