How the discovery of the cosmic microwave background radiation falsified atheism

Prior to certain scientific discoveries, most people thought that the universe had always been here, and no need to ask who or what may have caused it. But today, that’s all changed. Today, the standard model of the origin of the universe is that all the matter and energy in the universe came into being in an event scientists call “The Big Bang”. At the creation event, space and time themselves began to exist, and there is no material reality that preceded them.

So a couple of quotes to show that.

An initial cosmological singularity… forms a past temporal extremity to the universe. We cannot continue physical reasoning, or even the concept of spacetime, through such an extremity… On this view the big bang represents the creation event; the creation not only of all the matter and energy in the universe, but also of spacetime itself.

And another quote:

[A]lmost everyone now believes that the universe, and time itself, had a beginning at the big bang.

So, there are several scientific discoveries that led scientists to accept the creation event, and one of the most interesting and famous is the discovery of the cosmic microwave background radiation.

Here’s the history of how that discovery happened, from the American Physical Society web site:

Bell Labs radio astronomers Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson were using a large horn antenna in 1964 and 1965 to map signals from the Milky Way, when they serendipitously discovered the CMB. As written in the citation, “This unexpected discovery, offering strong evidence that the universe began with the Big Bang, ushered in experimental cosmology.” Penzias and Wilson shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1978 in honor of their findings.

The CMB is “noise” leftover from the creation of the Universe. The microwave radiation is only 3 degrees above Absolute Zero or -270 degrees C,1 and is uniformly perceptible from all directions. Its presence demonstrates that that our universe began in an extremely hot and violent explosion, called the Big Bang, 13.7 billion years ago.

In 1960, Bell Labs built a 20-foot horn-shaped antenna in Holmdel, NJ to be used with an early satellite system called Echo. The intention was to collect and amplify radio signals to send them across long distances, but within a few years, another satellite was launched and Echo became obsolete.2

With the antenna no longer tied to commercial applications, it was now free for research. Penzias and Wilson jumped at the chance to use it to analyze radio signals from the spaces between galaxies.3 But when they began to employ it, they encountered a persistent “noise” of microwaves that came from every direction. If they were to conduct experiments with the antenna, they would have to find a way to remove the static.

Penzias and Wilson tested everything they could think of to rule out the source of the radiation racket. They knew it wasn’t radiation from the Milky Way or extraterrestrial radio sources. They pointed the antenna towards New York City to rule out “urban interference”, and did analysis to dismiss possible military testing from their list.4

Then they found droppings of pigeons nesting in the antenna. They cleaned out the mess and tried removing the birds and discouraging them from roosting, but they kept flying back. “To get rid of them, we finally found the most humane thing was to get a shot gun…and at very close range [we] just killed them instantly. It’s not something I’m happy about, but that seemed like the only way out of our dilemma,” said Penzias.5 “And so the pigeons left with a smaller bang, but the noise remained, coming from every direction.”6

At the same time, the two astronomers learned that Princeton University physicist Robert Dicke had predicted that if the Big Bang had occurred, there would be low level radiation found throughout the universe. Dicke was about to design an experiment to test this hypothesis when he was contacted by Penzias. Upon hearing of Penzias’ and Wilson’s discovery, Dicke turned to his laboratory colleagues and said “well boys, we’ve been scooped.”7

Although both groups published their results in Astrophysical Journal Letters, only Penzias and Wilson received the Nobel Prize for the discovery of the CMB.

The horn antenna was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1990. Its significance in fostering a new appreciation for the field of cosmology and a better understanding of our origins can be summed up by the following: “Scientists have labeled the discovery [of the CMB] the greatest scientific discovery of the 20th century.”8

It’s the greatest scientific discovery of the 20th century.

In the New York Times, Arno Penzias commented on his discovery – the greatest discovery of the 20th century – so:

The best data we have [concerning the Big Bang] are exactly what I would have predicted, had I nothing to go on but the five books of Moses, the Psalms, the bible as a whole.

Just one problem with the greatest scientific discovery of the 20th century: atheists don’t accept it. Why not?

Here’s a statement from the Secular Humanist Manifesto, which explains what atheists believe about the universe:

Religious humanists regard the universe as self-existing and not created.

For a couple of examples of how atheistic scientists respond to the evidence for a cosmic beginning, you can check out this post, where we get responses from cosmologist Lawrence Krauss, and physical chemist Peter Atkins.

You cannot have the creation of the universe be true AND a self-existing, eternal universe ALSO be true. Someone has to be wrong. Either the science is wrong, or the atheist manifesto is wrong. I know where I stand.

Positive arguments for Christian theism

Woman who regrets her sex-change surgery sues everyone involved in transing her

What animates people on the secular left? Why are they so weak in the face of evil that harms children? Part of the answer is that harming children is necessary for selfish adults to pursue their pleasure without boundaries. But part of it is that people on the secular left don’t want to be judged, and so they attack people who judge any kind of evil.

So what happens when the people who set moral boundaries and make moral judgements get silenced? Answer: the weak suffer.

Here is an article from  The Post Millennial, that I think really shows what is at stake when we who set moral boundaries and make moral judgements capitulate to those who don’t want to be judged, and who want to be “nice” and “tolerant”.

It says:

A detransitioned Ontario woman who was prescribed testosterone and underwent both a bilateral mastectomy and a hysterectomy during a mental health crisis in which she believed herself to be a man is suing the healthcare providers who allegedly facilitated her medical transition.

Michelle Zacchigna, 34, of Orillia has filed legal action against a total of eight doctors and mental health professionals who treated her during the years that she identified as transgender. Zacchigna alleges that each failed to address her complex mental health needs and instead allowed her to self-diagnose as transgender and undergo irreversible procedures that she now deeply regrets.

“I will live the rest of my life without breasts, with a deepened voice and male-pattern balding, and without the ability to get pregnant. Removing my completely healthy uterus is my greatest regret,” wrote Zacchigna.

The rest of the article names all the people involved in transing this kid, and what they specifically did. The general idea is that they did almost no investigation. They certainly made no moral judgements. They certainly didn’t consult the Bible. These are people who care about making money for themselves. They have no rational foundation for morality. They don’t believe that truth bounds reasoning. They don’t believe that moral boundaries are objective. They think the universe is an accident. They don’t believe in consciousness or free will. They don’t think they’re going to Hell when they die. They’re atheists, and they do what’s best for themselves, no matter what happens to anyone else.

This 11-minute video of Matt Walsh has been making the rounds. I think it’s worth watching. I definitely stand with Matt on not capitulating to people who want to harm children.

I was watching a video of a panel of men and women discussing dating on Wednesday night. The host asked the man if he would be willing to go to bed with a transgender woman (biological man). And the man explained that he was a Christian, and he would not do that. Then two of the women on the other side of the table – scantily dressed, and covered in tattoos – called him a bigot, and walked off the set. It’s getting to the point now where men of character have to choose between their principles, and having relationships with the compassion crowd. The don’t judge crowd.

I actually had to make that choice all through high school and college, when church girls complained about my belief in an inerrant Bible, and a literal Hell, and the wrongness of no-fault divorce, etc. I’ve been making that choice for character, and against “tolerance” and “compassion”, my entire life. It’s sad when you have to see your plans of marriage and children slip away, because so many young, unmarried women – even the ones raised in the church – have been brainwashed to value moral relativism above spiritual truths and moral truths.

When people are doing things that harm themselves and harm children, the right move is not to do what is nice to them so they will like you and then you can be popular. That’s emotional garbage. The right move is to stand up and disagree, with evidence. And if people don’t like your disagreement, then too bad. And if I had kids like Matt Walsh, I would never let those kids near the “compassionate” moral relativists who run the public schools.

New study: 50% of biological males in women’s prisons convicted of sex crimes

So, at the first level of “bad” I think it would be putting biological males into women’s sports. Maybe next would be putting biological males into women’s bathrooms and showers. Then maybe putting biological males into women’s shelters. But the worst – the absolute worst – has to be putting biological males convicted of sex crimes into women’s prisons. But that’s just secular left morality.

Here’s the story from Daily Wire:

A new Canadian study found that 9 in 10 male inmates who identify as transgender were incarcerated for violent offenses and nearly half were sexual offenders.

A recent study conducted by the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), an “Examination of Gender Diverse Offenders,” which surveyed 99 “gender diverse” inmates between 2017 and 2020, found that of the 61 male inmates in the study who identified as transgender or something other than male, 46% had committed sexual offenses and 92% were incarcerated for violent crimes.

The report found that 91.7% of male inmates who identified as transgender women surveyed were incarcerated for a violent offense, including 41.6% for homicide. By contrast, according to the Correctional Service of Canada’s 2021 annual report, 25.8% of male inmates (who identify as male) were serving sentences for a violent offense, which includes homicide/manslaughter, attempted murder, aggravated assault, and other violent offenses.

Additionally, the researchers determined that 62.7% of male inmates who identified as transgender women had a low reintegration potential, 39.3% required maximum security, and 74.6% had “high static risk,” which refers to a high level of risk that an individual will reoffend based on factors that are relatively unchangeable or “static.”

Meanwhile, in Scotland:

PRISON authorities have been criticised after it emerged four of the five transgender inmates held in the female prison system are murderers.

The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) have been accused of endangering vulnerable women in the latest revelation in the controversy surrounding trans prisoners.

We already know that biological males who identify as females are attacking and raping women in women’s only spaces. But the response from the secular left has been to try to cover these abuses up, and prosecute concerned parents for “domestic terrorism”.

Here’s the New York Post talking about a rape that occurred in a woman’s prison, committed by a biological male:

A transgender Rikers inmate raped a female prisoner while in the women’s section of the jail and has been sentenced to seven years, officials said Monday.

Ramel Blount, 33, who goes by Diamond Blount, pleaded guilty to attempted rape April 7 in an apparent plea deal.

Investigators said Blount — who was housed in the female section of the facility — approached a 33-year-old female inmate in the bathroom at the Rose M. Singer center Feb. 8, 2021, after the victim had just finished showering.

Blount held the victim down by the back of her neck and raped her, investigators said.  The victim reported the incident to jail officials, and a rape kit was administered, which matched Blount’s DNA in the New York State Registry.

That’s New York for you – the home of secular leftist morality. What sort of human rights can you rationally ground in an accidental universe? It’s survival of the fittest. The only things that are “wrong” are the things you get caught for. The things that make you lose face with your peers.

What is Joe Biden’s view of putting biological males convicted of sex crimes into women’s prisons?

Daily Wire had an interesting article about that.

It says:

“Transgender equality is the civil rights issue of our time,” Biden said on social media Saturday night. “There is no room for compromise when it comes to basic human rights.”

[…]The statement isn’t necessarily a departure for Biden who, back in April, mentioned that he would support the “Equality Act,” a Democrat-authored House bill that would amend the 1964 Civil Rights act to outlaw discrimination based on “sexual orientation and gender identity.” That bill is controversial, as it includes language designed to compel public schools to allow transgender individuals who identify as female (but who are biologically male) to compete against female athletes on female-only sports teams.

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) one of the bill’s more prominent sponsors, made it clear that expanding “access” to transgender athletes is a key element of the bill, denying biological reality: “Many states have sexual orientation and gender identity nondiscrimination laws, and all of them still have women’s sports. Arguments about transgender athletes participating in sports in accordance with their gender identity having competitive advantages have not been borne out.”

Asked about the bill back in June, Biden said that passing it would “be the first thing I ask to be done” as president. The bill, he added, “is long overdue, and will ensure LGBTQ Americans are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.”

When you see secular leftists who support the Democrat party, you have to understand that this is what they are voting for. They want to put biological males who have been convicted of rape into women’s prisons. “Who cares about women in jail anyway?” the secular leftist will say. They don’t care about women, they care about virtue signaling to their social circles.
