A Boundary County man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to unlawfully killing a female grizzly bear in his yard.
So many friends and family members showed up to support Jeremy M. Hill at his arraignment that the hearing was forced to move into a larger room at the U.S. Courthouse in Coeur d’Alene. Hill, 33, faces one charge of killing a grizzly – a federally protected species.
Supporters said that Hill, a father of six, acted responsibly in shooting the female grizzly on May 8, which appeared with two cubs in the yard of his home near Porthill, Idaho, while his children were playing outside.
“It seems unjust to me that someone would be charged when they were protecting their family,” state Sen. Shawn Keough, R-Sandpoint, said after the hearing. “I’m at a loss to understand why the U.S. government is pursuing this in the manner they are.”
After shooting the grizzly with a bolt-action rifle, Hill contacted the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.
“Jeremy did the right thing, he called Fish and Game,” Keough said. “I think that prosecuting this case really sets back the grizzly bear recovery effort. … People are saying, ‘Boy, if that happened to me, there’s no way that I’d report it.’ That’s a human reaction.”
Hill’s wife and six children – the oldest is 14 and the youngest is an infant – attended the arraignment. The family declined to comment.
It seems as though this is just another one of the ways that government tries to take over the role of husbands/fathers to protect their family by criminalizing the use of firearms to perform that role. What man wants to get married when he cannot protect his family?
I think it’s a sad day when a female grizzly bear has more rights than a land-owning male protecting his six children. We have to question the motivation of a society that allows for a husband and father to be prosecuted for terminating the life of a wild animal that was invading his property, while a woman can terminate the life of a human being because it’s her body. The inconsistencies are overwhelming and intentional. The common agenda is the destruction of the family. Animal rights fits perfectly fine with abortion and global warming and everything else that puts planet before people. This is a society that thinks human life is a nuisance. We are on a path to self destruction and the solution lies in the building up of the nuclear family.

Somehow, society has forgotten the kinds of things that give a man pleasure when he starts a family.
Providing for his family – this is under attack by high taxes and social programs.
Protecting his family – this is under attack by anti-gun, anti-self-defense pacifists.
Leading on moral and spiritual issues – the public schools seem to be determined to undermine Christianity.
I am not making men out to be victims, but I do think that if we want men to commit and serve, we need to be mindful of what men want from wives and children. Keep the government out of it.

Men are victims of a cultural Marxist agenda that has allowed for feminism and the elimination of the male role. Men are no longer the providers, they need not be the protectors, in fact they serve very little purpose outside of the immoral pursuits of an immoral society. Cultural Marxism has the nuclear family as it’s main target, as it is that unit which ensures the growth and spread of Christianity and religion, the masses will not bend to an agenda if they are driven by another purpose. Cultural Marxism’s main goal is to supplant the Christian culture. Cultural Marxism has taken hold the World over and Christians need to realize that Christianity is under attack. Christianity in it’s purest form has the answer and defense to cultural Marxism. If Christian men and women acted as the bible instructs the culture would reject this attack. If Christian women acted as the proverbs 31 women their men would be seated at the city gates and their lives would be intact and their children safe!

Where is the value of a father protecting his children? You can afford to lose a bear, who will replace that child which has been mauled by a bear?

Yes, we need to respect authority but human life is more important. Can anyone replace the arm or leg of a child which is mauled by a bear. This child will have to live with this for the rest of the life thinking my father valued a bear’s life than mine.
