Gallup finds surge in the number of self-identified conservatives

Once in a while I want to post something that makes people happy.

Look at these graphs from the latest Gallup poll on political views. (H/T Ace of Spades via ECM)

Here are the numbers:

Conservatives are at 42%. Moderates at 35%. And Liberals at 20%.

And the independents?

Independents: 41%. Independent Conservatives: 36%. Independent liberals: 19%.

This is good news. But it will not be nice for us when we have to have “austerity measures” to prevent bankruptcy.

  1. There IS a problem with that. If the method was “self-identification”, you’ll likely find a lot of conservatives who identify themselves as such, but far fewer “liberals” will admit to it. They like “progressive” or something else. It’s kind of like “self-identified born again Christians” … you know, the majority of Americans who, by the way, don’t believe most of the basic tenets of Christianity.

  2. Liberals don’t believe in having kids – certainly not many. Conservatives have more kids. And liberals bring up their kids with liberal ideas, while conservatives bring up their kids with conservative ideas. So liberals are “contracepting” themselves out of existence. That’s why the population in liberal countries in Europe is dwindling. They see other things as more important than having kids.
