Muslim leader of underage sex-trafficking gang gets 22-year sentence

He’s definitely a Muslim, according to the UK Telegraph:

Taxi driver Shabir Ahmed, 59, was already serving a 19 year sentence from May for conspiracy, two rapes, aiding and abetting rape, sexual assault and sex trafficking. His domineering temper earned him the nickname “Daddy” by the white teenage victims.

The ringleader, who called the judge a ‘racist b——‘, was one of nine men jailed at Liverpool Crown Court for a total of 77 years for passing round the youngsters and plying them with drugs and drink.

[…]His victim, who cannot be named, revealed Ahmed once made her kneel on the floor in a pose called the ‘chicken’, with her arms threaded through her legs and touching her ears, before striking her on the back with a cricket bat.

The girl, now an adult, claims she was repeatedly raped over many years. He left her never wanting to have sex again or get married.

The girl said when she was first raped she was so young she needed to stand on a chair to reach a sink.

She said: “I remember reading about the time the Roald Dahl book ‘The BFG’, and it described a person screaming and no sound came out – it was like that.”

She said the “shame” meant she did not tell police until March last year when she heard Ahmed was being investigated over the grooming case.

The court heard during one rape attack she muttered under her breath :”sex maniac”. Ahmed giggled: “Yes, that’s what I am!”

Rachel Smith, prosecuting, told the jury of six men and six women, two of whom were Asian: “Ahmed was violent and controlling.”

Ahmed told the court he was a standard-bearer for “targeted and weakened British Muslims”, and claimed the police were anti-Muslim

He said of the Rochdale grooming trial: “We were all innocent. My only crime was to be Muslim. Not of the majority race.”

In May, Ahmed and his eight co-defendants were jailed for their role in a child-sex ring.

After that trial, Judge Gerald Clifton called him an “unpleasant and hypocritical bully” and told all the nine men they were driven by “lust and greed”, adding: “You treated the victims as worthless and beyond respect.”

Takeaway worker Kabeer Hassan, 25, was given a total of 12 years for rape and conspiracy. Taxi driver Abdul Aziz, 41, got 18 years for conspiracy and sex trafficking; Dad-of-five Abdul Rauf, 43, was jailed 12 years for conspiracy and sex trafficking; Mohammed Sajid, 35, got 12 years for rape, conspiracy, sex trafficking and sexual activity with a child.

Married Adil Khan, 42, was jailed for 18 years for conspiracy and sex trafficking. Taxi driver Mohammed Amin, 45, was caged for six years for conspiracy and sexual assault while cabbie Abdul Qayyum, 44, was jailed for five years for conspiracy. Hamid Safi, 22, was jailed for four years for conspiracy and sex trafficking.

Is this sort of child-rape compatible with Islam?

In Christianity, men aren’t allowed to have sex with anyone unless they are married to them. Marriage is for life, and you only get to marry one person. So you have two choices: a self-sacrificial lifelong marriage or lifelong chastity. If you had sex with someone you aren’t married to, then you’re not doing Christianity right.

I have female friends who are in other religions like Hinduism and Judaism and Buddhism and atheism. And my goal for those women (and the men, too!) is to get them into a relationship with God through the person and work of Jesus Christ. That is the goal that Christians have for people outside of their religion: to get them to freely love God because they are convinced that it is rational to do so. We are trying to change the other person’s mind. We use reasons and evidence to do that.

When I read the Bible, I find that there is a model and specification for dealing with non-Christians in the New Testament.

Here are some tips for dealing with non-Christians:

  • listen to their their concerns
  • find answers to their questions through study
  • write to them
  • give them books to read
  • give them lectures and debates to watch
  • do stuff for them to make their lives easier
  • don’t send mixed signals by getting romantic
  • try to share in their daily triumphs and defeats
  • protect them from threats and coercion
  • share food, water and shelter with them if they need it
  • just let them come along with me when I am doing stuff
  • etc.

When I think about how to get along with peaceful non-Christians, I think of the parable of the good Samaritan. Someone cannot consider your case for Christianity if they are sick or dying. If you want someone to listen to your reasons, you have to serve them first and earn the right to be heard. The book of James makes the same point – you have to take care of a person’s physical needs as a way of acting out your belief that they were made to know God. Even if the person isn’t willing to listen to you, you still have to treat them well, because this is how you imitate the love that God has for everyone.

I think that most of the women that these Muslims go after are fatherless, and that’s why they are so vulnerable. I am really at a loss to understand how anyone who claims to know God could look at a fatherless woman and see her as prey. Fatherless women are not prey – they are children of God made to know him, and made to achieve things for him. They are like the widows and orphans that the Bible is always encouraging us to take care of, because their condition of fatherlessness was not something they chose. They are victims. And we must treat them as victims, and heal them and build them up. The first thing I think of when I think of a fatherless woman is how to build her up so that she is in a good place to consider reasons and evidence that might persuade her to become a Christian.

I believe that everyone was made to know God in Christ, and that’s the basis for how I interact with people of different faiths. They all have value because God made them. They were all made to know God. They are not there for me to use and abuse. God would not be happy with me if I didn’t do everything possible to point them toward him and to help them along. That’s what he wants me to do with them.

Obamacare begins forcing states to cap and cut prescription drug benefits

From Life News. (H/T Doug Ross via BadBlue)

Excerpt:

When Democrats in Congress pushed the Obamacare bill through, pro-life groups warned about rationing that could take place as a result. Although liberal groups and the mainstream media laughed at the projections, they are now coming to pass.

A new report from Kaiser Health indicates states are now moving in the director of capping or cutting prescription drug benefits.

Illinois Medicaid recipients have been limited to four prescription drugs as the state becomes the latest to cap how many medicines it will cover in the state-federal health insurance program for the poor.

Sixteen states impose a monthly limit on the number of drugs Medicaid recipients can receive and seven states have either enacted such caps or tightened them in the past two years, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation (KHN is a program of the foundation). The limits vary across the country. Mississippi has a limit of two brand-name drugs. In Arkansas adults are limited to up six drugs a month.

Since June, Alabama has had the nation’s stingiest Medicaid drug benefit after limiting adults to one brand-name drug. HIV and psychiatric drugs were excluded. On Aug. 1 the state will relax the limit to its previous level — four brand-name drugs — after the restriction saved more money than expected and the state received money as part of a settlement with a pharmaceutical company.

Other states with Medicaid drug limits are Arkansas, California, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and West Virginia.

[…]NRLC has said Obamacare contains “multiple provisions that will, if fully implemented, result in government-imposed rationing of lifesaving medical care.”

The department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will be empowered to impose so-called “quality and efficiency” measures on health care providers, based on recommendations by the Independent Payment Advisory Board, which is directed to force private health care spending below the rate of medical inflation. In many cases treatment that a doctor and patient deem needed or advisable to save that patient’s life or preserve or improve the patient’s health but which runs afoul of the imposed standards will be denied, even if the patient wants to pay for it.

The law empowers HHS to prevent older Americans from making up with their own funds for the $555 billion the law cuts from Medicare by refusing to permit senior citizens the choice of private-fee-for-service plans whose premiums are sufficient to provide unrationed care but which HHS, in its unlimited discretion, disallows. The Obama health care law could thus lead to elimination of the only way that seniors will have to escape rationing — by limiting their right to spend their own money to save their own lives.

We should not be surprised by this. In the UK, patients regularly have treatments cut off by the government because they are deemed “lost causes” and because the government needs to cut costs. In Canada, patients are barred by law from using their own money to purchase or supplement their medical care. That’s why they have to leave the country and pay out of pocket for faster treatment when they are placed on waiting lists. Socialist health care means waiting lists and rationing by death panels. Get used to it, that’s what “equality” means. It means you pay based on income, and you are treated based on government decree – and after the bureaucrats take their cut, of course.

There is another way. We can use the forces of choice and competition to lower costs the same way that costs are lowered in the free market. In the private sector, the laptop that costed $3000 5 years ago was $1000 last year and is $400 today. That’s how the private sector works, and that’s what we need to do with health care. Get the government out it. The profit motive of business owners drives quality up and price down. It does in every area we care about, and health care is no different.

David Cameron’s fixation on gay marriage cripples the UK Conservative Party

From the UK Daily Mail. (H/T Dina)

Excerpt:

When he became Tory leader seven years ago, the youthful and telegenic David Cameron pledged to transform the blue-rinse image of his party and boost its membership by attracting thousands of young, ethnic and gay members.

In doing so, he would destroy forever the Tories’ reputation as the ‘nasty party’ as these new ‘inclusive’ members joined the 300,000 activists whose average age was 64

‘I was elected Leader of the Conservative Party on a mandate to change and modernise the party,’ he said. ‘I want to increase membership. I want to see a broader  base. I want to see a significant increase  in the number of members from all communities.’

[…]But the bitter and ineluctable truth is that, far from increasing numbers, Mr Cameron has presided over the sharpest decline in membership in the Conservative  party’s history.

Today, I can reveal that the number of Tory party members has fallen below 130,000, a drop of around 60 per cent since he took over in 2005.

[…]The uncompromising language deployed by Mr Cameron who, in another sop to the Lib Dems, has cynically dumped his repeated promise to reward  traditional marriage through the tax system, enraged Tory MPs and activists alike.

[…]In a tense meeting in Downing Street last month between Mr Cameron and 20 of the party’s most senior members, he was given a stark warning that membership will plunge below the psychologically crucial 100,000 mark if there were no change of heart on same-sex marriage.

[…]The damage done by the gay marriage proposals is not confined to within the party. Potential Tory voters don’t like them.

A national poll by ComRes on the likely effects of allowing gay marriage — which, incidentally, was not in any of the parties’ manifestos — revealed the Conservatives could lose 1.1 million votes and 30 parliamentary seats in an election because so many supporters would stay at home or switch to UKIP.

A ComRes poll also revealed that 56 per cent of Mr Cameron’s constituents who voted for him at the election oppose his plans to make redefining marriage a priority.

Andrew Hawkins, the chairman of ComRes, said: ‘It’s the way it has been handled that has done so much damage. The Government has a consultation, but says it is pressing ahead whether people like it  or not.

‘One of the scariest things for the Tories is that three in four of those people who voted for Cameron in 2010, but say they won’t again, cite gay marriage as the reason.

[…]One senior party official said: ‘Gay marriage is the final straw. In London, Bristol, Birmingham and other major cities, there are dozens of constituencies with no party organisation at all.

‘The voluntary party is virtually extinct in Scotland and in parts of Wales.

We are relying on a dwindling band of volunteers, the majority of whom are in their 70s. It’s the most desperate situation the party has ever faced.’

The UK Telegraph notes that Cameron has angered American Republicans with his “unprecedented” embrace of Barack Obama – despite the Falklands betrayal, the leaking the name of a British agent to the press, and other gaffes by Obama.

In other UK news, I note that nearly two-thirds of Scots oppose the legalization of same-sex marriage, but the liberal Scottish National Party is going forward with plans to legalize it. But nothing is set in stone yet, and things could still go the other way. (H/T Dina)
