Obama supporter says she is “exhausted” from defending Obama

From National Review. (H/T ECM)

The video:

Excerpt:

One of the more memorable moments from the Obama CNBC town hall came when an African-American woman — a military veteran and mother of two — told the president she was “exhausted of defending” his administration:

“I’m one of your middle-class Americans, and quite frankly I’m exhausted. I’m exhausted of defending you, defending your administration,  defending the mantle of change that I voted for, and deeply disappointed with where we are right now. I had been told that I voted for a man who said he was going to change things in a meaningful way for the middle class. I’m one of those people and I’m waiting, sir. I’m waiting. I don’t feel it yet, and I thought that — while it wouldn’t be in great measure — I would feel it in some small measure.”

The woman than talks about the impact of the recession on her family, her worry about being able to pay her two daughters’ tuition, and her fear that her family may be heading back to their “hot dogs and beans days.”

“Quite frankly Mr. President, I need you to answer this honestly: is this my new reality?”

Wow. Hot dogs and beans!

  1. Here we see the source of the problem too. This lady (and most other Obama supporters, no doubt) voted for him because of vague promises of hope-and-change, not because his policies could deliver that or because his record as a senator showed he could. Voting was based on sentiment, not analysis. Now they want results they can feel, something measurable. All over the world, voters learn the hard way… At least this lady is facing the facts. Others are less willing to do that.

On a lighter note, hotdogs are junk food, but beans are actually pretty nutritious. Don’t knock the humble bean! ;-)

  2. Americans need to find the moral strength to repudiate Obama’s socialism. I’m callin’ it The Audacity Of “Nope”.

Hotdogs are junk food? — them’s fightin’ words!! Consider Hebrew National:

I double-hotdog-dare you to click on that ‘dog, Mary, and still say that Hebrew National doesn’t answer to a higher calling!!!

  3. Richard, you just made my day. :) The Audacity of Nope… I love it!! Am chuckling away…

As for the hotdogs, I suspect you may be right regarding Hebrew National. Them look like mighty fine ‘dogs. On the other hand, we in SA have the best veggie ‘dogs. Seriously! They taste better than the meat ones. Fry’s veggie ‘dogs all the way…

But absolutely NO hotdog of any brand can compare to “boerewors”. Literally translated as “farmer’s sausage”, this delicately spiced sausage delight puts all others to shame. You haven’t really lived ’til you’ve tasted good small town ‘wors with onions and tomato sauce. May the ‘wors be with you! :D

    1. “May the ‘wors be with you!” Ha-ha — good one!

Mary, I have savoured the delights of boerewors in Zambia without being able to spell them. Can we truly savour the wonders of boerewors without being able to spell them? Answer: Yes We Can!

I have trouble with certain African words — I still get the word for BBQ (braai) mixed up with the word for Jewish circumcision (bris). This could lead to embarrassing social circumstances!

I shall add “Try a Fry’s” to my African to-do list.

      1. Ah, so you have tasted true wors. You have truly lived. ;-)

Perhaps the canned beans industry can now adopt a familiar and rather appropriate new slogan: Yes We Can! :-D

Yes, I can imagine that would be an embarrassing mixup of words… :-P

Oh and Fry’s exports, so perhaps you can find it in your local frozen foods section!

  4. Well if she was dumb enough to vote for Obama, then she got what she deserved. The only real hope for this country is if things get so awful that no one ever dreams about putting the liberal democrats back in power again.

  5. She isn’t seeing the change he’s making? Obama wasn’t lying when he said that he was bringing change, however, he’s not bringing the change this lady *thought* he was bringing.
I call progressive change. No, it’s not the first time a Pres has tried what Obama is trying, e.g., Wilson and Teddy, but he’s definitely trying to change America and he’s good at it.
